The Smoky Mountains Area Workforce Board will meet at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the Library at Walters State Community College, Morristown. The board provides policy and oversight guidance for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act in the Smoky Mountains Workforce Area, which includes Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Sevier, and Union counties.

The Center for Workforce Development at Walters State Community College is the administrative entity for Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act services, which are funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  Walters State is an equal opportunity employer and provider of employment and training services. WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITIES ACT (Review and Comment)

As required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act, a draft of the PY16 Transitional Plan for the East Tennessee Workforce Local will be available for public review and comment for a 30- day period beginning on March 31, 2017, and ending on May 1, 2017.  The plan will be available between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Center for Workforce Development, Walters State Community College.  Written comments may be submitted to the Center for Workforce Development, Walters State Community College, 500 S.
